The wind energy industry is not only booming in Texas but in many other areas of the US as well. But the development of the renewable energy source is not without controversy. Many planned projects are finding allies in developers and farmers who lease their land, but opponents in some environmentalists who are concerned that wind farms disrupt nesting sites for birds, among other potential problems.

Zilkha Renewable Energy is hoping to install between 67 and 73 wind turbines on privately owned lands in Rosalia, Kansas. The Rosalia Wind Power Project will, if completed, deliver 100 megawatts (MW)-120 MW of generating capacity, enough energy to power some 30,000 homes. …
