MaxAppleZoom INIT fattens up screen space
PRODUCTS
Boosting display area. MaxAppleZoom is one of the best "hacks" we've ever seen for the Macintosh. It's a Startup document (INIT) that expands the resolution of Apple's classic Mac II video card.
The program was written specifically for the original Toby video card that Apple shipped for its 13-inch color monitors, and it does not currently support either the Mac IIci's built-in video or the latest generation of Apple video cards.
We tested the software with the Toby card driving a Sony CPD-1302 color monitor and driving a standard Apple 12-inch monochrome display.
If you have one of these original Apple video cards, MaxAppleZoom boosts the screen size from the normal 640 by 480 pixels to 704 by 512 pixels (about 20 percent more information).
The change is systemwide, so word processors, spreadsheets, graphics programs and other programs can take advantage of the extra display space.
