Jag gets exclusive
* Cosworth officials said Jaguar Racing will have exclusive use of the new 90-degree Cosworth Formula One V10 in 2003. Additionally, Ford CEO Nick Scheele gave the beleaguered team a shot in the arm. ``With our works team, Jaguar Racing, we're in F1 to stay,'' said Scheele. ``F1 is undoubtedly the world's toughest proving ground, one that requires a sustained commitment in order to achieve success. Jaguar's presence is not driven by short-term marketing objectives. We're racing enthusiasts and the marque's connection with racing stretches from the time the company was founded by Sir William Lyons in 1922.'' Next season Jordan Grand Prix will get the engine used this year in the Jaguar R3, and will not be issued the upgraded power unit until 2004.
New class hits the track
* Grand American Road Racing Association teams wanting to test their new Daytona Prototype cars before the 2003 season will get a chance Nov. 6 and 7 at Daytona International Speedway. Additionally, Grand-Am will allow a 36-hour window in which teams can do endurance runs. The new Daytona Prototype class will be the Grand-Am's marquee class next year.
Eurospeedway sold?
* The administrator of the insolvent Eurospeedway Lausitz operating company in Germany hopes to sell the facility near Dresden early next year. Managing director Jurgen Fischer says six potential new owners have expressed interest in taking over the state-funded oval track.
