DVD Copy Control Association (DVDCCA) is a trade association of movie industry businesses that license decryption technology referred to as content scramble system (CSS) to manufacturers of hardware and software for playing digital versatile discs (DVDs). [DVD Copy Control Association v. Bunner, No. H021153, 2001 WL 1340619 (Ct. App. 6 CA 11/01/01)]. In October of 1999, DVDCCA learned that a computer program entitled DeCSS had been published on the Internet by a teenager in Norway.
