phew, now that we've chronicled all the tough trucks coming to construction sites and country club drives in 2003 (see last week's issue), we can get back to cars. Well, sort of.
You'll notice over the next few pages, tucked between four-wheeled transports more easily identified as ``cars,'' many vehicles that look suspiciously like sport/utility vehicles. In fact, the DNA of these SUVs, or ``crossovers''-as many within the industry like to refer to them-comes from the cars upon which they are based. It's part of the automakers' continuing pursuit to blend the line between car and truck in a scramble to invent the Next Big Thing.
