The Porsche Supercup title was up for grabs as the series arrived in Indianapolis for the season's final two races. Three drivers-Stephane Ortelli, Marco Werner and Alessandro Zampedri-had a shot at the championship. Ortelli ended the suspense in race one on Saturday.

Entering the weekend, Frenchman Ortelli held a 24-point lead over Werner and a 36-point advantage over Zampedri. With 20 points awarded for each win, Ortelli could seal the deal by finishing ahead of Werner and Zampedri in either race.
