The longtime AHS hoops coach retires and offers some last advice: Put assistant Ron Estrada in the challenging job

Albuquerque High School's Ron Estrada would like to replace a legend.

And that legend Jim Hulsman, who retired Monday as the Bulldogs' head basketball coach said he has taken steps to help Estrada get the job.

Hulsman, 72, announced his retirement Monday in a letter to AHS Principal Linda Sink. In the letter, he recommends Estrada for the head coaching position.

In an interview Monday, Hulsman said he hoped retiring just four weeks before high school teams open …
