Insurers give mixed reviews to automobile insurance laws

Central Virginia automobile insurance representatives find proposed changes to the state's insurance code "a mixed bag." They acknowledge that the proposals address abuses in the handling of automobile insurance policies, but they warn that increased regulation will mean higher premiums for Virginia drivers.

The State Corporation Commission's Board of Insurance has recommended that the insurance code be changed to make it more difficult for insurance companies to refuse renewal of automobile insurance policies.
