As Palo Verde High School students rolled out of the parking lot Monday afternoon, every third or fourth driver was stopped by a school police officer and asked to produce a valid license.
It's part of a new program called Safe Exit, begun this year in an attempt to reduce the number of traffic accidents involving juvenile drivers.
"Everybody understands what this is all about," said School Police Sgt. Anthony Jones, who is coordinating the program in the Clark County School District. "We're trying to encourage voluntary compliance and keep unsafe drivers off the roads."
