A high-dollar political action committee fund wasn't set up to benefit Albuquerque Mayor Martin Chavez exclusively, the PAC's treasurer says. But at least three city councilors say they'd never heard of it, let alone thought they could use it.

West Side councilor Michael Cadigan said he wouldn't use it in any case.

Cadigan said today he wasn't aware that he could tap into ABQPAC, which he learned about only recently.

"If that money is available to me for travel, I didn't know about that and I don't want to use it," he said. "That would give the appearance of impropriety."
