With the UK printing industry's age profile suggesting a somewhat maturing sector, we can expect an increasing number of retirements and voluntary redundancies.

Post Script was therefore interested to hear of the achievements of Reiji Yoshioka, who used his retirement from a Japanese printing firm in July 2001 to complete a 6,000-mile canoeing trip around the nation's coastlines.

Not for him a life on the golf course or bowling green. Instead, Yoshioka canoed the remaining 375 miles to finish a journey he began 23 years ago.
