TOO MANY TRUCKS CHASING TOO LITTLE FREIGHT

For Alberta shippers, it's a buyer's market these days. Although the trucking industry may sometimes get a reputation for only being interested in high-volume shipments from major corporations, even small business can demand good service for small loads--and get it. Especially if they know a few pointers about how the trucking game really operates in the new era of deregulation.

"There's excess capacity out there," says Bob Drinnan, general manager of the Alberta Trucking Association. "Too many trucks are chasing too little freight."
