2002 SEP 25 - (NewsRx.com & NewsRx.net) -- The National Meningitis Association (NMA), a new patient advocacy group, has been formed. The group was established by parents whose children have suffered or died from meningococcal meningitis, a potentially deadly, yet vaccine-preventable disease.
NMA's mission is to inform parents about the dangers of meningococcal meningitis and the benefits of vaccination.
"The National Meningitis Association is primarily dedicated to raising public awareness about the heightened risk of meningococcal meningitis among adolescents and college students and to encourage parents, students, and legislators to help fight this disease through education and adolescent vaccination programs," said Lynn Bozof, executive director, NMA.
