2002 SEP 25 - (NewsRx.com & NewsRx.net) -- Viragen, Inc., (VRA) and the University of Miami's office of technology transfer announced that they have entered into an agreement to develop anticancer technology.
The joint project is designed to develop a novel form of an immune-enhancing drug that has shown promise by inhibiting tumor growth in a broad range of cancers. Additionally, the agreement provides Viragen with an option to acquire an exclusive worldwide license in order to commercialize the technology. United States and foreign patent applications relative to this technology have been filed.
Dr. W. Jarrard Goodwin, director of UM/Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center stated, "The University of Miami is very pleased to be working with Viragen to develop a new immune therapy which may be capable of treating many types of cancer. We are committed to participating with Viragen in clinical trials and working with a local company will enhance our community and biotech reputation."
