2002 SEP 19 - (NewsRx.com & NewsRx.net) -- SciClone Pharmaceuticals (SCLN) announced the positive results of a breast cancer animal model study using monotherapy Zadaxin as an immune system enhancer.
At the 21-week endpoint of the study, the survival rate was over 4 times as great for the group treated with Zadaxin compared with the control group, 33% versus 8%, and the median survival time for the Zadaxin treated group was 38% greater than that of the control group.
At week 13, the survival rate was 100% for the Zadaxin treated group, double the 50% rate for the control group. At the 21-week endpoint of the study the Zadaxin treated group had significantly increased survival relative to the control group (p=0.04 by Kaplan-Meier analysis).
