A book of this sort, purporting to offer a comprehensive reference on the whole subject of cosmetic clinical safety and efficacy testing in 352 pages, presents a problem for the reviewer. It is hard to envision this volume as a valuable resource tool for the expert in the field without enlarging it to encyclopaedic size. The non-expert, on the other hand, could find it very valuable or very frustrating, depending on the information sought. Some chapters on specific test methods are very detailed, while others are so general that an inexperienced person will need to look elsewhere for more specific instructions.
