Allied Tire Sales plans expansion into North Florida

A year after buying Allied Tire Sales Inc. from founder Stanley Hanin, Tom Kane and Glen Bynum are continuing to grow the business into new markets.

Allied now has 39 stores spread across Central Florida from the Atlantic to the Gulf coasts. By May 1, 1991, there will be 10 new stores in Jacksonville, Sarasota and Gainesville, Kane said.

Hyped by zany television commercials featuring nine-year Allied spokesman Sam "Tires ain't pretty" Behr--who usually talks about everything but tires--Allied brought in $45.3 million in gross sales in 1989, making it Orlando's 23rd largest private company, up from 27th the year …
