Out of the frying pan, into the frying pan?

The dream of most middle-aged advertising agency executives is to get out of the rat race and land a nice, quiet job in the marketing department of a good company.

That is, unless they own a piece of the agency - or have a life-time contract, which is as rare as a World Series game in Cleveland.

But there is one guy who did just the opposite.

James K. DeVoe left Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. early this year. He spent six-and-a-half years there, ending up as corporate vice president, advertising/worldwide - and there's not exactly an overabundance of corporate vice presidents, even at a huge company …
