Japan's coffee shops have offered a number of food and non-food products for the Christmas/year-end season. Excelsior Cafe, operated by Doutor Coffee, sells gift sets that the customer fills with items of his or her own choice. Dozens of items are available, including mugs, coffee beans and cookies, which are packaged into boxes or bags after the customer selects them.

The promotion continued up to Christmas Day. That was also the last day to buy gift certificate packs at Starbucks …
