An Aug. 14 appellate court ruling in Los Angeles has extended a decade-long trend of shielding general contractors from liability claims brought by subcontractor's employees.
In finding that Santa Monica-based Peck/Jones Construction Corp. had not contributed to injuries suffered by a subcontractor's employee during the renovation of the Sherman Oaks Galleria, the court has paved the way for the state Supreme Court to hear a case that could further shield general contractors.
