A teenage driver died Friday, and four Centennial High School classmates were badly injured when their speeding vehicle crashed into a semitrailer after school.
Ryan Sneed, the 16-year-old driver, died at University Medical Center. His four passengers, including his sister and two siblings from another family, were in surgery or being treated there Friday night.
Lauren Ozawa, 14, Jade Ozawa, 15, and Emily McIntyre, 14, were listed in critical condition, according to a nursing supervisor. Samantha Sneed, the driver's 15-year-old sister, was listed in fair condition.
The accident was the second deadly crash in four months involving a speeding vehicle carrying five valley high school students. On May 9, a car full of Las Vegas High School students returning to campus from lunch crashed into a utility pole. Two girls died.
Friday's accident happened a little more than a mile south of Centennial on Alpine Ridge Way at Lansford Road, a primary route for gravel trucks on the western edge of Las Vegas development near Ann Road and Hualapai Way.
While chasing a white pickup driven by a fellow Centennial student, Sneed ran a stop sign in his red Jeep Cherokee. The sport utility vehicle collided with a semitrailer about 1:30 p.m., police said.…
