More cell-door problems plague jail.(Evening)

First they wouldn't lock properly, and now some of them won't even close.

Some cell doors won't close properly, so the new lockup still can't open.

A new glitch in the electrical system at the $85 million Metropolitan Detention Center will delay the opening of the facility for an undetermined amount of time, officials said today.

Bernalillo County Public Safety Director John Dantis said the problem involves the jail's relay system, which sends electronic signals to cell doors so they open or close.

The relays on "eight to 10 doors" are failing, he said this morning.
