2002 SEP 5 - (NewsRx.com & NewsRx.net) -- Wyeth Pharmaceuticals, a division of Wyeth (WYE), is announcing that users of its Norplant System (levonorgestrel implants) no longer need a back-up, barrier, or other nonhormonal method of contraception such as condoms, spermicides, diaphragms, or IUDs.
This development is the result of several product tests of Norplant conducted by the company that have not suggested lower contraceptive effectiveness than that reported in clinical trials and the product labeling.
