2002 SEP 5 - (NewsRx.com & NewsRx.net) -- Congress must swiftly move to pass the Abortion Non-Discrimination Act (ANDA) to protect healthcare providers who do not wish to participate in abortions, according to Cathy Cleaver, Esq., director of planning and information for the Pro-Life Secretariat of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops.
"No one should be forced to perform or provide abortion," Cleaver said. "Yet there is a coordinated effort to force healthcare providers from Alaska to New York, hospitals, insurance providers, and outpatient clinics to provide, pay for, or make referrals for abortion. Forced abortion participation has no place in a country that respects the right of conscience for all."
