U.K. researchers announce positive results for gene-based therapeutic vaccine.(Brief Article)
2002 SEP 4 - (NewsRx.com & NewsRx.net) -- Oxford BioMedica, plc, has released date from phase I/II clinical trial of TroVax, a gene-based therapeutic vaccine for the treatment of colorectal cancer.
The data, presented at the International Society for Cancer Gene Therapy's conference in London by Dr. Miles Carroll, vice president of immunotherapy at Oxford Biomedica, is from colorectal cancer patients at the Christie Hospital in Manchester receiving medium and high doses. It shows that they tolerated the product well with no adverse reactions observed.
In addition, the results demonstrate that TroVax is extremely efficient at inducing the appropriate immune response with all of the 10 immunocompetent patients analyzed to date in the trial mounting a specific response against the tumor antigen OBA1, the active component of TroVax, and some patients showing ...
