Ballpark boosters won't ditch battle after third strike

SAN FRANCISCO -- Giants owner Bob Lurie may be burned out on Bay Area stadium proposals after losing a key vote in Santa Clara County this week, but private business people in San Francisco are still cooking up plans for a baseball stadium.

Proposals started circulating behind the scenes weeks ago, anticipating this week's action by Peninsula voters, who approved a Santa Clara site for a Giants stadium but narrowly rejected a utility tax to finance it.
