American Chemical Society files countersuit against Dialog. (DIALOG Information Services Inc. and underpayment of royalties)

Citing "underpayment of royalties, breach of contract... and fraudulent falsification of its reports on customer usage," the American Chemical Society (ACS) has filed a countersuit against Dialog Information Services. The suit, filed in Washington, D.C., on Aug. 31, was coupled with ACS's response to Dialog's antitrust suit against the society (AL, July/Aug., p. 623-627).

The countersuit charges Dialog with underpayment of some $10 million in royalties and asks for a formal audit to determine the exact amount of the underpayments. The suit also seeks $30 million in punitive damages.
