World Labor Protests the Repression of Unions in Panama
The International Conference of Free Trade Unions (ICFTU) has lodged a detailed complaint with the ILO against the new government of Panama (installed by the U.S. military) accusing it of trying to undermine trade union rights.
The complaint says that the economic crisis that has gripped Panama since the American invasion has brought about a series of attacks on that country's trade union movement, and unionists charge that their organizations are being "choked to death."
