Despite Schmalbach-Lubeca's (S-L) PET and White Cap closure business transferring to the hands of Amcor, its beverage can business continues to be busy turning out innovations. S-L claims to be the first producer worldwide to offer a patented, aseptic filling technology for beverage cans that is suitable for non-carbonated beverages such as milk drinks, enriched fruit juices, and "enhanced" water.

The aseptic filling technology guarantees a product shelf life of one year and offers a "better preservation of taste for heat-sensitive, high-quality-products such as dairy drinks, juices, teas, and meal replacements," says S-L spokesman Hartmut Gahmann.
