Strong current and projected market demand for beverage cans in Russia, Spain, and Southeastern Europe has led top beverage can producers to make significant investments in these regions. Both the Russian and Spanish beverage can markets have prompted Rexam, London, U.K., to invest a total of $63mn into new beverage can manufacturing lines in both market segments.

Following the "explosive" growth in the Russian beverage can market in the past two years, Rexam has invested $28mn in its Naro Fominsk, Russia, plant. The plant, located west of Moscow, has two lines and a current capacity of 1.8bn cans. The new line will add an additional 1bn can capacity and is scheduled …
