To some, all it takes is a funky, chunky wing tacked on the trunk lid to make a sports car. For that reason, we're sure there are those who assume the Mitsubishi Diamante VR-X is such a car-without ever climbing behind its steering wheel and driving it for themselves. Well, it's not. But if you had your mind set on Mitsu's flagship sedan, take heart: It may be no BMW 5 Series, but it's no dog, either. The 3.5-liter V6 under the VR-X's hood pumps out 5 more horses than other Diamantes and performs as smoothly as its competitors. And if you like that wing, Mitsubishi continues that sporty theme inside, with unique VR-X touches on the console and steering wheel. Just goes to show if you can't join 'em, might as well look like 'em.
