The interior ministry has dropped its investigation of new Slavneft president Yuri Sukhanov over alleged involvement in transfer pricing schemes. Sukhanov, a former Sibneft executive, is now pressing ahead with a wide-ranging shake-up of the firm.
The development is seen as a victory for Sibneft and the "family" of cronies that surrounded former president Boris Yeltsin in its struggle for control of Slavneft with the "St Petersburg group" of key officials close to President Vladimir Putin (FSUE, 5 July, p1).
