Families want $2.85 million in Columbia loan disputes

In the midst of a public stock offering, Columbia Bancorp has a fight on its hands.

Two Rockville families are seeking $2.85 million in suits against the company's flagship Columbia Bank, questioning why a bank loan officer poured their home construction funds into the bank account of a faltering builder.

The dispute arose after the loan officer continued to release funds to a developer months after construction on a pair of custom homes had stopped, according to suits filed in Montgomery County Circuit Court.
