The Financial Future Of the Office Dealer

What does the future hold for the office equipment and supplies dealer? While no one can say with certainty, a look at past practices and current trends may give us an idea of where the dealer may be in a few years.

In years past, the office dealer was merely a buyer of products--office supplies, equipment, furniture, social stationery, greeting cards, school supplies -- and a seller of these products. Things have changed. Today's dealer must be more than just a seller of products. He must, because of advanced technology, have knowledge of computers and other technical systems and related products. He must realize that, in addition to selling products, he must be an adviser to his customers in systems, furniture, design, and in the machine field, more than a seller of typewriters and calculators.
