BAKED POTATOES MAY HELP PREVENT STROKES

A high intake of dietary potassium protects individuals against stroke and stroke-related deaths, and as little as one extra serving of a potassium-rich food per day may reduce the risk of stroke death by up to 40 percent!

Those are the findings of a prospective, 12-year study of 589 men and women in an upper-middle-class community in southern California, and they suggest that a "recommendation to increase the daily intake of potassium-rich foods ... might be of considerable benefit in the prevention of stroke," the American Society of Hypertension was told by Kay-Tee Khaw, B. …
