Not a member of the 'Over the Hill Gang'
Ramana Lagemann, one of the Subaru Rally Team USA drivers, spun while practicing for the recent Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, coming perilously close to tumbling 1000 feet down the mountainside. Ironically the Subaru service crew was located below and they watched in horror as Mike Kidd, his British co-driver, gingerly opened the door and stepped out. Kidd shouted for nearby spectators and photographers to help hold the car as it teetered on edge allowing the driver to climb out. Eight people held the car and five minutes later a safety truck dragged it back onto the course. Two of the spectators watching Ramana's close call at Pikes Peak were Rob Moran, a Subaru PR flack, and Jeff Walters, Subaru brand strategy manager. Walters' grip might have been just a bit more firm as he's the one who signs the checks for the U.S. rally team.
