Belgian ponders building brewery in enterprise zone
A Belgian brewer is considering bringing beer-making back to Austin for the first time in more than a hundred years.
Belgian Brewing Co. Inc. currently is looking at a site in northeast Austin for a plant with a capacity of more than 85,000 barrels of beer per year. The brewery would be the first one located within the city since the City Brewing Co. closed in 1878.
It would take several years for such a plant to reach its full capacity, predicted local beer imported Michael Tassin, who is working with the company.
