As America's view of what constitutes "literature" expands to include the perspectives of a more pluralistic society, the publication of literary works by minorities is becoming increasingly encouraged. In recent years, books by Native American authors or on Native American themes have progressed beyond the occasional title by a small press and into the literary mainstream. Native American topics transcend their regionalism, and the breadth of subjects, themes and publishing approaches is as varied as the numerous tribes across the country. The University of Arizona Press's Sun Tracks series includes only Native American artists and writers. In New Mexico, Bear & Company's Native American titles have their philosophical point of reference in earth-centered spirituality.
