FIRECRACKERS popped, bugles blared, drums rolled, colorful buntings flapped in the breeze, and the fragrance of fresh flowers wafted all over the spacious grounds of Cebu Plaza Hotel.

It was the first Saturday of May, and crowds cheered 32 beauties who paraded beneath bloom-laden arches for the third annual Santacruzan sa Plaza.

The project, which started as a promo event for the hotel, has become a fund-raiser for Clothes for Life Foundation, to which every prominent designer in Cebu belongs. Their apostolate is one of the greatest works of mercy-to clothe the naked. This year, Albert Arriba presided over the project, while immediate past president Philip Rodriguez was the event's overall chair.
