A community meeting at Sanders-Clyde Elementary School downtown will explore the school's present state and ways to make the school successful.
Tonight's meeting comes in response to a district proposal earlier in the summer to close the school. Although the county school board decided against closing any schools this year, Charleston City Councilman Kwadjo Campbell said it is important to get the community involved to prevent a future shutdown.
Campbell joined with county school board member Liz Alston to call the meeting, though he said the idea arose with the school's PTSA.
