Considered a cornerstone for N.M. optics industry development, the firm will lay off 66 Albuquerque workers.

LightPath Technologies Inc. is packing its bags and moving to Florida. The company, which many economic developers hailed as a cornerstone of the state's optics industry cluster, will lay off 66 of its 75 Albuquerque employees by Sept. 30.

The nine remaining employees will be offered transfers to the company's Florida facilities, a company official said.
