EVE Perlas de Jesus is one of the country's favored couturiers. She is known for her delicate children's dresses, ladies' beaded evening dresses, ternos and wedding gowns.
Eve was invited to present fashion shows in the USA, Japan, Indonesia and aboard the SSS Orzova. She put up a series of fashion shows for charitable organizations. On top of everything, she supplied ballet accessories like costumes, shoes, tights and leotards to ballet schools throughout the Philippines.
At 14, in Santa Rosa, Laguna, she started making baby dresses and, because of her workmanship, she become known, and she and her sisters opened a dress shop in Mabini. She attracted the elite crowd. Then she began making gowns and ternos for Santacruzans, fiestas, debutantes and brides.
Eve's Creations
Eve's Creations, as her shop was called (named after her daughter Eve), flourished from the 1950s to the early '90s. Due to the numerous clients and orders from both local and abroad, Eve had to open a branch at Filipinas Hotel along Dewey blvd., and another on Pennsylvania ave.
Eve's family of seamstresses, burdadoras, cutters and bead workers grew to about 50. Eve took care of designing, supervising and putting the gowns and dresses together, while her husband, Judge Amado de Jesus managed the business. They were an indefatigable team.
