DoLE upholds motorcycle parts firm workers' dismissal.

The Department of Labor and Employment (DoLE) has denied the petition of 73 dismissed employees of Laguna Technopark-based Masuda Philippines, Inc. seeking to suspend their termination under the omnibus rules implementing the Labor Code.

In a ruling, Labor Secretary Patricia A. Sto. Tomas said the case "is not one in the implementation of a mass layoff" as there is "no such intent on the part of the company."

"If the number of affected employees is large, it is simply because they were the number found by the company to be dismissible for just cause," Ms. Sto. Tomas said in her four-page decision.
