Namibia: Villagers in Oshana Region reportedly facing starvation.

A number of villagers at Olweege in the Ompundja Constituency in the Oshana region are facing starvation brought about by poor rainfall received in many parts of the region this year.

The village headman, Petrus Stephanus, said that the most affected villagers are widows and members of the San community. Stephanus could not confirm the allegations that some villagers from the San community had died as a result of starvation. Selma Angula, 35, and Frieda Nahum, 60, told Nampa that they are just surviving on food given to them by good Samaritan neighbours.
