2002 JUL 4 - (NewsRx.com & NewsRx.net) -- Encouraging data presented at the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) have shown that Faslodex is at least as effective as Arimidex in the treatment of hormone receptor positive postmenopausal women with advanced breast cancer. It also provides a longer mean duration of response in this setting. This promising finding adds to a growing body of evidence to support Faslodex use in the advanced setting, suggesting it is a valuable additional endocrine treatment option for these patients.
Previous data analysis has already shown that the use of Faslodex following antiestrogen therapy for advanced disease does not compromise the potential for efficacy of subsequent endocrine agents, such as aromatase inhibitors or progestins. Faslodex may therefore play a crucial role in extending the overall therapeutic window of opportunity for the use of endocrine treatment modalities in advanced disease.
