2002 JUN 27 - (NewsRx.com & NewsRx.net) -- Ablative technologies - the energy-based methods for destroying abnormal cell tissue - are displacing surgical applications and generating double-digit growth in systems and disposables sales.
According to "Market Opportunities in Ablation Technology, 2002-2010," just published by MedMarket Diligence, double digit growth is expected for ablation technologies in urology, oncology, gynecology, and cardiology.
"These technologies are demonstrating clinical efficacy of the sort that fuels rapid acceptance among clinicians and aggressive growth," said Patrick Driscoll, president of MedMarket Diligence. "In endometrial ablation alone, sales of these systems are driven by the approach being a clinically and economically better than hysterectomy, and by tapping cases of dysfunctional uterine bleeding not otherwise treated, which will create an $800 million market by 2010."
