I grew up in Saginaw, Michigan, where temperatures fall to 30 below, but as far back as I can remember, my body seemed to think it was in the tropics. All year round, my palms, feet, and underarms were constantly sweating. My parents didn't make much of it at first, but by the time I was 11, I wanted to know what was wrong with me, so my mother took me to our family doctor, who reassured us that my problem would go away when I went through puberty.
