One of the guilty pleasures of my job as the editor of Cosmo is reading the celebrity profiles. When this month's story on Matthew McConaughey arrived in my office, I even saved it to read in bed because, hey, what better place to get to know such a hunky star? Well, I loved Linda Friedman's report on the Southern charmer (page 162)--in part because he's so refreshingly forthcoming but also because of a confession he makes. Matthew admits to us that while in college, he subscribed to Cosmo in order to better understand the opposite sex!
He's not the first man to fess up and reveal that he uses Cosmo as a cheat sheet. Guys tell us all the time that they buy the magazine on the newsstand or sneak their girlfriend's copy. As one male reader put it, "Reading Cosmo is like having the other team's playbook." If guys read between the lines of our articles looking for ways to better please us, we're all for that. Though it doesn't make our mission any different. One of our biggest goals each month is helping you get a handle on them.
