Gallup family adds Barcelona Suites to its stable.(Evening)

The Barcelona Suites Hotel in Albuquerque has changed hands for the second time in two years and will likely become a Comfort Suites franchise, the new owners say.

The Sundaram family of Gallup, which now owns nine hotels in New Mexico, closed on the Barcelona on Tuesday. Terms of the sale were not disclosed.

Prakash Sundaram said today the family plans to spend more than $1 million on renovations to the hotel's rooms and exterior. He said the face-lift will begin in the next two months and be completed within the year. The hotel will remain open during the project, he said.
