APS Athletics Director Buddy Robertson says he'll step down.(Evening)

With his department in order, Buddy Robertson decided his time as athletics director for Albuquerque Public Schools was over.

Robertson, 62, said today he is retiring after 37 years as an APS coach and administrator, the past 12 as athletics director for the district's 11 high schools. His last day will be June 28.

"It's the end of the school year, the schedules (for next season) are finished, and the budget's taken care of," he said. "It's a good time to make a break."

Joseph Vigil, an APS interim superintendent, said he will post the job around June 24 and expects to have an athletics …
